Designing a Home Office You Actually Want to Use
Working from home is only pleasant if the space supports you. A few design decisions make the difference between a desk you avoid and one you look forward to.
Get The Light Right
Place your desk at a right angle to the window so daylight falls across the desk rather than into your eyes or onto your screen. Add a good task lamp for evenings.
Storage Keeps You Focused
Closed cabinets hide paperwork and cables, so your desk stays clear. Built-in units can make use of awkward alcoves and save floor space.
- Choose a chair that supports your back before choosing anything decorative.
- Plan sockets and cable routes so wires never trail across the floor.
Separate Work From Rest
Even in a bedroom corner, a rug, shelf or screen can mark the workspace so it is easier to switch off at the end of the day.
A home office does not need a whole room — just a well-planned corner designed around how you work.
